“Газова квіточка / Gas Flower” https://archive.pinchukartcentre.org/works/leonid-vojtsehov-2007-gazova-kvitochka-pol
The original title of the work, Газова квіточка, is placed first, with my supplied English translation in the next entry, wrapped in brackets to indicate that it is supplied.
The reason for using the transliteration tool is well illustrated here: Леонід Войцехов becomes Leonid Wojciechow in Google Translate but should correctly be transliterated as Leonid Voǐt͡sekhov and is transliterated as such by the tool.
Because I only know the year this painting was created, I would input only that information:
This would be the same for both types of date, so I only need to input it once. If I could not find a date that this painting was created, I would indicate that in the field as [unknown]. This should always be enclosed in brackets because it is supplied information.
Coverage is being used for sorting purposes. Provide the year in this field.
For the description, create 2-3 sentences in length in English and include an original description if present.
Please note that the preference for an English description first in this field is different from the rest of the directions– this is to ensure that an English description displays beneath the title in the search results.
If there is location information about the item you're describing, include that as well. (e.g. if I was describing a monument located in Kyiv, I would include that information in my description, since the location of the item and the location of the host instution, described in a separate field, will not always be the same.)
If the item has publication information known, include it in the Publisher field with the formatting “Place of Publication: Publisher.” This painting was, of course, not published, but a published monograph might look something like, “Oxford: Oxford University Press.”
Use any original subject headings used by the host institution to inform your choices.
If you find yourself in need of subject headings that are not provided in the controlled vocabulary menu, suggest the needed English heading on the suggestions tab of the spreadsheet. Do not use Google Translate to produce a Ukrainian subject heading.
For the language of a resource, only indicate a language when there is text or sound present in the item itself. This painting does not include any language, therefore it will be left blank even though the website from which the image was taken is in Ukrainian.
URLs should be included for both the source page, if it is still active. URLs should be included for the SUCHO-archived copies if it is not.
Add your name to the contributor field to indicate that you created the record. This information will not be shown on the front-end.
Rights – skip this field; rights statements will be added in batch.
Next, click over to the Item Type Metadata tab at the top.
Select “SUCHO” from the drop-down “Item Type” list.
Indicate the name of the Host Institution. Input their name in the original language first and a transliteration or officially used English name second. (In the case that an organization uses an official English name, e.g. Київський Зоопарк uses the official English name of “Kyiv Zoo”, include this instead of a transliteration.)
Here I’ve assigned the item to the Web Archived Objects Collection because it is from the set of material we have web archived. (Please note that this will not match the collection indicated on the Gallery Suggestions spreadsheet, which indicates the scraping collection, not the Omeka collection.)
